Vicino. Non qui. is a collective exhibition about the work of expatriated artists from Trentino. The curatorial concept of the exhibition is about absence and journey, about loss and research for new balances. The artworks on display are widely different: videos, films, sculptures, photographs, paintings, audio tracks, lightboxes, texts. The setting must therefore harmonize very heterogeneous materials, respecting the work and maintaining coherence and content. The concept comes out from a series of reflections: on the one hand about the meaning of contemporary artistic production, about its ubiquity and its displacement from the place where it is materially produced, on the other hand about art as a logistic and economic fact and about the embodiment of this process: the fine art Fine Art shipping crates. In the spaces of the Gallery, the containers for fine art transport and the artworks themselves lie in the dark like in a warehouse. The materials are hung or left on the ground, the rooms are divided by PVC industrial curtains, the captions are placed on the floor, all in an apparent messy and informal way. The aim of this process is to create an anonymous space characterized by a uniform gray color that can bring out the works only through artificial lighting. This project, like others realized by Campomarzio, has allowed conceiving and developing a coherent methodological approach to temporary installation, based on the modularity, linearity and scalability of the display, the cost-efficiency and practicality, taking up design experiences and ready-made attitudes. In this sense, it was decided not to build any sets, but to directly contact a fine art logistics company: Butterfly Transport, which provided the transport boxes for free.
Vicino. Non qui. è una mostra collettiva dedicata all’opera di artisti trentini espatriati, il cui lavoro ha avuto importanti riconoscimenti all’estero. È una mostra che parla di assenza e di viaggio, di perdita e ricerca di nuovi equilibri. Le opere esposte sono di diversa natura: video, film, sculture, fotografie, dipinti, tracce audio, lightbox, testi. L’allestimento perciò deve armonizzare materiali molto eterogenei, rispettando l’opera e mantenendone coerenza e messaggio. Il concept sviluppato nasce da una serie di riflessioni: da un lato sul senso della produzione artistica contemporanea, sulla sua ubiquità e sul suo sradicamento dal luogo in cui viene materialmente prodotta, dall’altra sull’arte come fatto logistico ed economico e sulla materializzazione di questo processo: la cassa da trasporto. Negli spazi della Galleria i contenitori per il trasporto delle opere e le opere stesse giacciono al buio come in un magazzino. I materiali sono appesi o lasciti a terra, gli ambienti divisi da tende industriali in PVC, le didascalie sono posizionate sul pavimento, il tutto in modo apparentemente disordinato ed informale. L’obbiettivo è la creazione di una spazialità anonima connotata da un uniforme colore grigio che possa far emergere le opere solo attraverso l’illuminazione artificiale. Questo progetto, come altri realizzati da Campomarzio, ha permesso di riflettere e sviluppare un coerente approccio metodologico al tema dell’allestimento temporaneo, basato sulla modularità, linearità e scalabilità del display, all’economicità e praticabilità realizzativa, riprendendo esperienze progettuali ed atteggiamenti ready made. In questo senso si è deciso di non costruire allestimenti, ma di contattare direttamente un’azienda di logistica fine art: Butterfly Transport, che ha fornito le casse da trasporto gratuitamente.
